A pre-release version of Windows 8.1 is seen on a tablet in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Microsoft is planning to launch its long-awaited Windows 8.1 upgrade as a free download. It addresses some of the complaints people had with Windows 8, and attempts to bridge the divide between tablets and PCs. (AP)
