7. My eye is twitching.
我的眼皮在跳.
中國人有一句諺語說「左眼跳財, 右眼跳災」, 這句話要解釋給老美聽可能要花上老半天工夫. 不過如果你已經知道眼皮跳用的是 twitch 這個動詞, 那可能會簡單些. 所以我們可以這樣解釋給外國人聽, "Twitching on the left eye forecasts fortune but twitching on the right eye forcasts disaster."
附註一點: 大家學到了「鼻屎」和「耳屎」的講法, 可能會期待「眼屎」的講法. 不過我問過兩三個老美, 他們都告訴我「眼屎」並沒有一個固定的講法. 但是我們可以用一個萬用字 discharge. 凡是身上排放出來的分泌物或排洩物都可以用 discharge. 例如 "There is a thick, yellow discharge coming from my eye." (我眼睛裏流出黃色黏稠的分泌物. 或是直接講 eye discharge. 例如, "You have to wash your face to clean the eye discharge." (你必須去洗臉把眼屎給洗掉.)
