6. They've done a good job.  Let's give them a big hand.

Give someone a hand 有兩個常用的意思，一個是指「助別人一臂之力」，例如你看到別人正在搬重的東西，就可以問問他，"Do you need a hand?" (需不需要幫忙呢？) 來關心別人一下。Give someone a hand 另一個則是指「掌聲鼓勵」，例如 "Let's give them a hand." 就是給別人掌聲鼓勵的意思。

鼓掌還有很多其它的講法，例如像 clap your hands, give someone a round of applause 都是，唯一的區別 clap your hands 是比較口語化的講法，跟 give someone a hand 差不多。而是 applause 這個字算是比較正式的講法，比方說有來賓演講，演講結束後主持人可以說，"Let's give him a round of applause." (讓我們給他一輪掌聲。) 如果有時候演講實在是太精采了，你還可以再說，"Let's give him another round of applause." 也就是讓我們再一次掌聲鼓勵的意思。
