'DOOMSDAY WISHES'

As the members of Mayday prepare to host their first European concerts, one of their biggest hopes is that they can share their music with the legends who inspired them. The members of the band said they would like to invite Paul McCartney, a founding member of the Beatles, to see their London concert. Stone said it would give him great pleasure to be able to share their music with 71-year-old McCartney. "I will send an invitation to him to see whether he will be able to make it or not," Stone said, adding that he studied at a music school in Liverpool that was founded by the famed British musician.

Guitarist Wen Shang-yi, who goes by the stage name Monster, said that although the band would also like to invite other legendary British rock bands such as Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones to their show, what they most want to see is the participation of their overseas fans. In fact, the group even has a question it would like to ask its European fans: If the world were coming to an end, what would your final wishes be?

Mayday asked for the wishes, dreams and hopes at a press conference in Paris. The members of the band said that the "doomsday wishes" will be shown during their Europe tour. Fans can submit their wishes to Mayday's Facebook or Twitter accounts to have them displayed during the concerts as a way to encourage people to pursue their dreams.

The band told reporters that it hopes the people of Taiwan and France can get to know each other better through the Paris concert. Monster said Mayday also hopes to use its music to show its support for Taiwanese people living or working in foreign countries.

When asked if their uplifting songs were behind their appeal in the Chinese market, bassist Masa said he believes the band has been successful because they write what they think in their music. "I think the most important thing is that we always think very positively," said Stone, who noted that the band writes songs about friendship, family and dreams. "We keep pushing this message to all people who can speak Chinese," said Stone. Asked what they expected when singing in Mandarin to audiences in Europe and North America, Stone said he believes music transcends language and can touch people's hearts regardless of their native tongue.
